Course Delivery

Following registration, we will send you instructions as to how to attend class with a link to your online meeting, our street address if the course is to be held on our premises, or instructions regarding any other venue where the course may take place.

Our Teaching Method

Ulpan La-Inyan’s method focuses on conversation, teaching from English to Hebrew. Knowledge of English is required.

Reimbursement

The student pays Ulpan La-Inyan 7500 shekels, which Misrad Haklita (The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption) will reimburse assuming the student is indeed eligible for reimbursement.

  1. Misrad Haklita will reimburse 40% of the money paid upfront approximately 1-3 months after presentation of the Ulpan La-Inyan issued receipt to Misrad Haklita.
  2. 30% will be reimbursed after the halfway point of the course, upon presentation of student attendance records to Misrad Haklita.
  3. The remaining 30% will be refunded after the completion of the course and the final exam.

Ulpan La-Inyan will deposit any deferred checks whose dates follow the expected reimbursement (two months after each of the course start date, mid-course date and end-of-course date).

Refunds

Payment is refundable up to 2 weeks before the course begins. Past that date, no refunds will be issued. In the event of a health problem or emergency, the student may go to their Klitah (absorption) advisor to seek a solution.

Attendance

Misrad Haklita requires a minimum attendance of 80% of class meetings. Attendance means being present in class from beginning to end. Ulpan La-Inyan will keep this record and submit it to Misrad Haklita.

Attendance of online classes while abroad does not count towards the 80% minimum.

Misrad Haklita reserves the right to collect payment already distributed if a student does not attend 80% of the entire course.

Switching classes

Registration is for a specific class. Once the course begins, students may not switch classes.

Final exam

At the end of the course, the student must take an exam given by Misrad Haklita to be eligible for government reimbursement. Ulpan La-Inyan will help students prepare for the exam. The grade earned will not affect reimbursement.

If you leave the country

If the student leaves the country during the course, their reimbursement schedule becomes frozen until they return and notify Misrad Haklita of their return. Likewise, their attendance of online classes during their stay abroad does not count towards their 80% minimum.

Please note that reimbursement is issued by Misrad Haklita, according to the rules it has set. While Ulpan La-Inyan will help, it is up to the student to submit all paperwork to Misrad Haklita in a timely fashion. If Misrad Haklita fails to reimburse the student, Ulpan La-Inyan is not responsible.

Method

Ulpan La-Inyan’s method of teaching is based on a methodology that relies on translation from English to the target language. While the language of instruction in Ulpan La-Inyan shifts from English to Hebrew as our levels progress, even in the highest levels students are called upon to speak in Hebrew based on English cues (for example, students are asked, איך אומרים government?).  This is a departure from the traditional “immersion” approach to language instruction.

Registration and class size

Whether a course takes place depends on sufficient registration. Registration is confirmed with payment only.

In order to create an optimal learning environment while keeping our courses affordable, we limit our class sizes to 6-12 participants. In the event that a course has less than 6 people enrolled, we will offer the students to take the course privately or semi-privately at a higher rate, or to receive a full refund.

Refunds

Where Ulpan La-Inyan cancels a planned course, students are entitled to a full refund. Students may also choose to convert their payment into private-lesson tuition.

A student is entitled to a course refund upon cancellation of participation up to 72 hours before the course begins. A 200NIS administration fee will be charged. Remaining payment may be applied to a future course whose start date falls within 6 months of the start date of the cancelled course.

No refund will be offered once a course has begun, barring extenuating circumstances (medical emergency, family emergency, and other exceptions determined by Ulpan La-Inyan administration). Such a refund must be requested within the student’s first week of attending the course – no refund will be granted thereafter.

Payment for a course that cannot be attended due to extenuating circumstances may be transferred to an upcoming course to take place within three months of the start of the current course.

Discounts

Percentage discounts advertised on ulpan.com are approximate. The discounted amount will be rounded to a multiple of ten shekels.

Private Lessons

Course Delivery

Following registration, we will send you instructions as to how to connect with your tutor, either online or in-person.

Teachers

Ulpan La-Inyan is committed to matching each student with a great teacher.

Students are entitled to purchase a 1-hour starter lesson, which allows them to experience the Ulpan La-Inyan method as well as determine whether they wish to continue learning with the teacher assigned. Should the student be dissatisfied with the teacher, they may purchase a second starter lesson with a different teacher.

Should the student choose to purchase a package without taking a starter lesson, they commit to that package regardless of the teacher assigned.

Upon payment for an online lesson or package, a teacher will be assigned within a maximum of 10 business days. As in-person lessons depend on teacher availability, Ulpan La-Inyan will do their best to provide a teacher in a timely manner but cannot guarantee a specific time frame.

If at any point the student is dissatisfied with the teacher, they may request another teacher.

Ulpan La-Inyan reserves the right to switch the teacher when necessary, such if the teacher is unable to continue.

Scheduling

Ulpan La-Inyan seeks to provide private lessons at times convenient for the student.

Lessons may take place anytime agreed upon between the teacher and the student, except Shabbat (Friday evening and Saturday), Jewish holidays and Israeli legal holidays. Lessons are a minimum of one full hour.

Packages must be used within 1 year.

Billing

Private-lesson packages (for example, a 10-hour package) are billed based on actual hours rendered, not lessons rendered. For example, if a lesson takes 1.5 hours, it will be billed as 1.5 clock hours.

Each lesson will take place over one hour or more, with the exception of lessons for children, which may take place over less than one hour. Billing will be rounded to the nearest quarter-hour increment.

Refunds and Cancellation

Once a starter lesson or package has been purchased, there will be no refund.

Should a lesson with the teacher be canceled within 24 hours of its start time, the time scheduled for the lesson will be billed as if the meeting took place.
