How to Say “A Full Month” in Hebrew – Ulpan La-Inyan

A month in Hebrew is חודש
. Why? Because the moon renews itself once a month (if you look closely at “month” you’ll see its root, the word “moon”).
חודש
can stand as a word on its own, as in:
פעם בחודש אנחנו לוקחים את הילדים לגן החיות.
Every month we take the kids to the zoo.

Or, it can appear in the more literary expression חודש ימים
– literally, “month of days”.
For example:
בעוד חודש ימים נהיה בדרך לתהילה ועושר.
In a month we’ll be on our way to fame and fortune.

Monthly is חודשי
.
