The basic Hebrew word for to escape or to run away is לברוח :
עוד לא התחלנו – לאן אתה בורח?
We haven’t started yet – where are you running away to? (spoken to a male)
Likewise, an escape is בריחה , which can be emotional as well as physical, a defense mechanism:
כן, זה מרגיע, אבל זה בריחה מהמציאות.
Yes, it’s soothing, but it’s an escape from reality.
מנוס also means an escape, but in more dramatic contexts such as:
אין מנוס אלא להילחם בזה.
There’s no choice (no escape) but to fight it.
