How to Say “Family Event” in Hebrew – Ulpan La-Inyan

An event, in Hebrew, is אירוע
, as in:
הזוג הצעיר מחפש אולם אירועים.
The young couple is looking for an event hall.
Likewise, a family event is אירוע משפחתי
.
For example:
אני לא יכול להגיע – יש לי אירוע משפחתי.
I can’t come – I have a family event.
A family is משפחה
, but since here we’re using “family” as an adjective, the feminine ה- at the end of the word becomes a ת-, to which we add the adjectival י-.

Likewise, a family unit is תא משפחתי
.
