How to Say “First Aid” in Hebrew – Ulpan La-Inyan
עֶזְרָה רִאשׁוֹנָה
The Hebrew word for first is ראשון
for something grammatically masculine and ראשונה
for something feminine like a year:
זאת השנה הראשונה שלו במכללה.
It’s his first year at the college.
ראשון
and ראשונה
come from the word ראש
– head, since something “first” is “at the head”.
Help or aid is עזרה
, a feminine word, so that first aid is עזרה ראשונה
.
For example:
יש לנו ערכת עזרה ראשונה?
Do we have a first-aid kit?
