חִיבּוּק
A hug, in Hebrew, is חיבוק
, so that a סבתא
(Grandma) might say to her grandson:
תן לי חיבוק!
Give me a hug!
חיבוק
is a noun form of the
פיעל verb
לחבק
– to hug or embrace, so that סבתא
might also say to her grandson:
בוא, חבק אותי!
Come, hug me!
To hug one another is the
התפעל verb
להתחבק
, as in:
כל פעם שאנחנו מתראים אנחנו מתחבקים חיבוק חזק.
Every time we see each other we give each other a big (strong) hug.
