קַטְלָן

Less commonly called אורקה orca, a killer whale, in Hebrew, is לוויתן קטלן or simply קטלן , which comes from the Aramaic root ק.ט.ל meaning kill (לוויתן means whale).

For example:

השנה נצפה לוויתן קטלן לראשונה מול חופי ישראל.

This year, a killer whale was spotted for the first time opposite the beaches of Israel.

קטלן is also the name of the word structure we’ve been seeing all week, with the words רקדן, עצלן, חיישן, שמרן .
