מְקוֹמִי

The Hebrew word for place is מקום . Someone (or something) who belongs to a place – a local – is מקומי (masculine) or מקומית (feminine).

For example:

אל תשאלו אותי, אני לא מקומי.

Don’t ask me (a male), I’m not a local.

And

מחר יום הבחירות לרשויות המקומיות.

Tomorrow is Election Day for the local authorities (municipalities).
