פַשְׁלָה

The Hebrew-slang word פשלה , like many (but certainly not all) Hebrew-slang words, comes from Arabic (فشلة). It means literally failure, but Israelis use it to refer to a mess-up or mistake, as in:

עשיתי פשלה, אבל אני מקווה שהחומוס בכל זאת יצא טעים!

I messed up (did a mess-up), but I hope the hummus will come out good anyway!

Hebrew also takes פשלה and turns it into a פיעל verb, לפשל to mess up.

For example:

פישלתי עם החומוס.

I messed up with the hummus.
