בִּיטָּחוֹן
Do you know the Hebrew word for “sure”? בטח
! (That’s the word.)
When we’re sure about something or someone, when we trust that they’ll deliver on our expectations, we have a sense of ביטחון
– security.
While ביטחון
in traditional Jewish spirituality refers to trust in the Almighty, the term used in day-to-day speech today usually refers to ביטחון
from external threats, as in:
התפקיד הראשון של ראש מדינה הוא לדאוג לביטחון אזרחיה.
The first role of a head of state is to ensure the security of its citizens.
For applications of ביטחון
, watch today’s video.
