How to Say “Subscription” in Hebrew – Ulpan La-Inyan

How do you say “to count” in Hebrew? The basic word is לספור
, but there’s also למנות
, which is a bit fancier. Both are simple verbs.
למנות
gives us the word for subscription – מינוי
– which is a type of account (ac-count).
For example:
יש לי מינוי לנטפליקס.
I have a subscription to Netflix.
A subscriber – or someone subscribed – is מנוי
if he’s male or מנויה
if she’s female. For example:
אני מנוי לנטפליקס.
I am subscribed to Netflix.
If I were a woman I would say אני מנויה לנטפליקס
.
מינוי
also means official appointment.
