how to say “to blossom” in Hebrew

If you’ve got some basic Hebrew (or have studied at an Israeli university and received a scholarship for tutoring via the program of this name), you probably know the word for flower – פרח .

To flower or to blossom/bloom is the simple verb לפרוח.

For example, you may recall the ט”ו בשבט (Tu Bishvat) song:

השקדייה פורחת…

The almond tree is blossoming…

You can also use לפרוח metaphorically, as in:

כשהוא נותן לה מחמאות, היא פשוט פורחת.

When he pays her compliments, she simply blooms.

After having studied literature and linguistics on the bachelors level and psychology on the masters, Ami decided to draw upon his hobby of learning languages, his understanding of human thought processes and his skill of explaining complex ideas in simple terms, to found a program that enables people to speak Hebrew with confidence.
