לְהִתְחַבֵּא, לְהִסְתַּתֵּר

The more mystical word for to hide in Hebrew is להסתתר . This is a התפעל verb from the root ס.ת.ר meaning concealment.

But the more common word is להתחבא , also a התפעל verb, but of the root ח.ב.ה .

For example:

היא אוהבת להתחבא מתחת לשולחן כשמגיעים אורחים.

She likes to hide under the table when guests come.

The children’s game hide and seek in Hebrew is מחבואים .
