The Hebrew word for to smuggle is לְהַבְרִיחַ listen and repeat, an active-causative verb. Its root is ב.ר.ח (b.r.kh) meaning escape – to smuggle is to cause something to escape.

For example:
 
חָפְרוּ מִנְהָרָה בְּנִסָּיוֹן לְהַבְרִיחַ חוֹמְרֵי נֶפֶץ.
They dug a tunnel in an attempt to smuggle explosive materials.
 
The abstract-noun form of להבריח is הַבְרָחָה listen and repeat smuggling.
