how to say “to stay in place” in Hebrew

לַעֲמוֹד בַּמָּקוֹם

I like to be moving forward – מתקדם
– in all areas of my life. If I’m not moving forward I’m עומד במקום
standing in place – or stagnating.

Here’s a variation of לעמוד במקום
to stand in place – in a complete sentence:

אם אני עומד במקום, סימן שאני תקוע.

If I’m standing in place it’s a sign that I’m stuck.

לעמוד
is a
simple verb of the root ע.מ.ד
.

במקום
means literally
in the place.
