how to say “100%” in Hebrew

מֵאָה אָחוּז, מֵאָה אֲחוּזִים

The Hebrew word for percent is אחוז , which literally means grasped or held: a percent is one grasped of a hundred.

For example:

האם אני רוצה לצאת לטיול? מאה אחוז!

Do I want go on the trip? One hundred percent!

Now, אחוז here appears in the singular. Also acceptable would be to write מאה אחוזים . And when the percentage is 1-10, using the plural is the more correct way to speak.

For example:

היא תורמת עשרה אחוזים מהמשכורת שלה לצדקה.

She donates ten percent of her salary to charity.

But you’re more likely to hear עשרה אחוז or even עשר אחוז instead.
