how to say “bright” in Hebrew

בָּהִיר

People can be bright – or smart, intelligent. That’s מבריק

(brilliant – referring to a male) and מבריקה
(brilliant – referring to a female) in Hebrew, or simply חכם
and חכמה
.

But if your computer screen is bright or the day, or anything else physical, for that matter, is bright, the word is בהיר

.

For example:

ביום בהיר בלי עננים, אפשר לראות מפה את כל מישור החוף.

On a bright day with no clouds, you could see the whole coastline from here.

בהיר could also mean pale or otherwise light. For example:

היא אישה מאוד בהירה.

She is a very light (skinned) woman.
