how to say “I’m living in…” in Hebrew

אֲנִי מִתְגוֹרֵר בְּ…

The common expression for to live as in to reside is לגור , a hollow simple verb.

For example:

גרתי בארצות הברית.

I lived in the United States.

And לגור works for living at the moment as well:

איפה אתה גר?

Where are you (a male) living?Where do you live?

But another word, the reflexive להתגורר , implies living somewhere temporarily.

For example:

כרגע אנחנו מתגוררים במרכז קליטה, אבל בעוד חודשיים עוברים לדיור קבע.

At the moment we’re living at an absorption center, but in two months we’re moving to permanent housing.
