Every language reflects a unique culture. Thus, every so often we stumble upon a word that appears only in that language.

להתחדש

is one of those words. It’s a greeting, a blessing, something you might wish someone who bought a nice shirt, moved into a new house… or has a beautiful new website and email design to share. 

להתחדש is a התפעל verb. Its root is ח.ד.ש

meaning new, so that the word means literally, be renewed.

For example:

תתחדשו על האתר החדש!

Congratulations (be renewed) on the new website!

תתחדשו is the wish when speaking to more than one person. Use תתחדש

when speaking to a man, and תתחדשי

when speaking to a woman.
