The English word “cuisine” is a fancy word for “kitchen”, borrowed from the posh French language where it refers to both the room with the fridge as well as the cooking style.
Hebrew follows the French, using מטבח
for both.
For example:
המטבח ההודי מביא לנו שלל מאכלים ריחניים וטעימים.
The Indian kitchen (cuisine) brings us a variety of fragrant and delicious foods.
And:
כולם, לצאת מהמטבח, אתם משגעים אותי!
Everyone, get out of the kitchen, you’re driving me crazy!
מטבח
comes from the root ט.ב.ח
(also making up the word

– “cook” or “chef”
). In Hebrew, ט.ב.ח
means butchery, but in Arabic the parallel root refers to cooking, which gave the great modernizer of Hebrew, Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the inspiration for מטבח
– kitchen (in Arabic مطبخ – matbakh).
