How to Say “Decorated Fruit” in Hebrew – Ulpan La-Inyan

When I was sick with Covid a few years ago, my staff sent me a fruit platter, which gave me plenty of Vitamin C to help me fight the disease (or at least enjoy the fruit while my sense of smell was still intact).
What they call decorated fruit in English, in Hebrew we call פירות מעוצבים
designed fruit. The Hebrew is more accurate, since platter artists tend to cut up the fruit into fancy designs rather than decorate the fruit with confetti or the like.
In context:
שלחו לי מהעבודה פירות מעוצבים כשהייתי חולה.
The people at work sent me (literally, “they sent me from work”) designed (decorated) fruit when I was sick.
Like all of this week’s Doses of Hebrew, מעוצבים
(the plural of מעוצב
) uses the פועל form.
ט”ו בשבט שמח
– Happy Tu Bishvat!
