After entering your first name and last name, the next item on a typical form – at least as of this writing – is email address. In Hebrew, this will appear in one of several forms.
The more formal one is כתובת דוא”ל
, where דוא”ל
stands for דואר אלקטרוני
electronic mail. But you’re also likely to see כתובת מייל
– literally, “mail address,” or simply מייל
– “mail.” The “full word” אימייל
is less common.
But “email address” doesn’t appear only on forms. Say you’ve called your phone carrier for technical support, and they want to send you something by email. They might ask:
מה המייל שלך?
What’s your email? (spoken to a male)
