“There’s no such thing” translates into Hebrew literally: אין דבר כזה
.
For example:
אין דבר כזה פיות.
There’s no such thing (as) fairies.
Don’t tell Tinkerbell.
Here’s another expression that will make you sound like a proper Hebrew speaker: אין חיה כזאת
– literally, there’s no such animal.
For example:
טיסה קצרה מתל אביב ללוס אנג’לס? אין חיה כזאת.
A short flight from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles? No such thing.
Apparently the expression originates in a joke from the 1980’s:
Someone went to the zoo. He approached the giraffe’s pen, looked up and down and said, “there’s no such animal.”
