לְהִתְעָרֵב
The Hebrew root ע.ר.ב means mixing, so that לערבב – a פיעל use of the root, doubling the ב at the end – is to mix something.

להתערב – the התפעל form of the root – means to intervene or to meddle, to mix oneself in, in an unwanted manner.
