If מרחוק means from afar or remotely, then מקרוב means closely or up-close.
For example:
תסתכלי מקרוב על הפגוש – את רואה את השריטה?
Look closely at the bumper – do you see the scratch? (spoken to a female)
מקרוב adds the מ – from – prefix to קרוב – close, creating up-close, or literally, “from close”. If we add the ב – in/at – prefix to קרוב, we get בקרוב , one of the words for soon, or literally, “at close”.
