קְרִיאַת הַשְׁכָּמָה
A wakeup call in Hebrew is קריאת השכמה
. This is a noun phrase where קריאה
— a call or reading — is joined with השכמה
— the act of rising early.
This can be literal, like the one you request from a hotel reception when you have an early flight, or figurative. In life, a קריאת השכמה
is that moment of clarity that reminds us to refocus our energy on what actually matters.
In context:
השיחה איתו הייתה קריאת השכמה בשבילי לשנות את סדר העדיפויות.
The conversation with him was a wakeup call for me to change my priorities.
The phrase קריאת השכמה
— wakeup call is a
Level 7
phrase in the Ulpan La-Inyan system.
