לְגַבֵּי, עַל
When you want to say “about” in the sense of a topic (like “we talked about the movie”), you can use על
(
on
). But if you want to sound a bit more specific or professional, like “regarding” or “as for,” you use לגבי
.
לגבי
comes from the word גב
(back). It’s like saying “on the back of” a subject. While על
is very day-to-day, לגבי
is great for business or when you want to be very clear about what you’re discussing.
In context:
לגבי הדירה שפרסמת… היא מרוהטת?
Regarding the apartment you posted… is it furnished?
